Classrooms

All of our classrooms are composite classes, which means there is more that one year level learning in each classroom. Tuākana-tēina relationships exists (where an older or more knowledgeable child supports the learning of a younger or less knowledgeable child). This concept develops a sense of connectedness, resulting in a positive and supportive culture.  The composition of our classes is subject to change, depending on the number of students in each year level. 

Our senior class students learn mentoring and leadership skills and actively participate in reading programmes with the younger children. Young students are encouraged and inspired by our older children, creating a whānau like atmosphere of helping and caring for each other – and we believe this results in well rounded, connected and responsible young people leaving the school at the end of their time here.
